Night 1: Halva Express Yourself
A variation on an Espresso Martini with halva orgeat, Nightwater dark rum, and coffee.
Ingredients
1.5 oz Nightwater dark rum
1 oz halva orgeat*
.5-1 oz coffee or espresso, depending on the strength of your brew
dash of salt (if needed)
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a coupe. Garnish with a coffee bean.
*Halva Orgeat:
Break up your favorite halva into chunks and combine with an equal amount (by weight if possible) of boiling water. Add a little bit more halva for a creamier, sweeter cocktail.
Tips:
Use a double strength coffee and brew it for a little longer if you don’t have espresso.
If the coffee comes out a little too bitter, try adding a little bit more salt! Be careful though, a little bit goes a long way!
